    Course Title: Advanced Algebra: Concepts & Connections

    Course Description

    This course builds on Algebra I concepts and introduces more advanced algebraic thinking. It is designed for students receiving special education services and includes accommodations and modifications to support diverse learning needs. Emphasis is placed on real-world applications, problem-solving strategies, and developing mathematical confidence.

    Course Goals

    By the end of this course, students will:

    • Solve and graph linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.
    • Understand and apply systems of equations and inequalities.
    • Explore polynomials, factoring, and rational expressions.
    • Use algebraic models to represent and solve real-world problems.
    • Strengthen mathematical reasoning and communication skills.

    Descriptive Statistics & Linear Functions

    • Measures of center and spread
    • Sampling methods and bias
    • Linear equations, slope, and graphing
    • Real-world modeling with linear functions

    Quarter 2: Systems & Quadratic Functions

    Standards: AA.REI.4–6, AA.QF.1–4

    • Solving systems by graphing, substitution, elimination
    • Factoring quadratics
    • Quadratic formula and completing the square
    • Graphing and interpreting parabolas

    Exponentials & Polynomials

    • Laws of exponents
    • Exponential growth and decay

    Rational Expressions & Review

    Standards: AA.RP.1–3, AA.MP
