Hello and welcome to the 2025-2026 school year here at Westside High School! My name is Jamal Chatman, a third-year educator teaching students Lit Comp 1 (formerly 9th grade literature) and British Literature! Let's have an awesome year everyone!

-textbook (physical copies or digital version)

-computer (bring CHARGED to class daily!)

-Pens (preferrably black/blue), pencils, highlighters

-Binder/folder dedicated to MY CLASS ONLY!

  • After-school tutoring

    Throughout the week, my work day ends at 3 pm; however, if you would like to stay after-school with help, please make arrangements with your parent/legal guardian before coming to me!

     

    Re-learn/Re-asses Plan 

    For any major assessments, students have the opportunity to submit a relearning plan for parent and teacher approval. Upon satisfactory completion of the plan, as determined by the teacher, students will be given a minimum of ONE opportunity to be reassessed. Only students scoring below 70 on a major assessment can complete a relearning plan unless exempted with parent approval.

     

    Reassessments may be different from the original. The reassessment score will replace the original score (the scores will not be averaged).

    Reassessments should be completed within 7 schooldays of receiving the original grade. I will consider extensions depending upon my discretion of particular circumstances!

     

    What do you need to do:

    1. Complete study guide, missing assignment, tutoring, or other assignment from Mr. Chatman for that major assessment. What you need to complete will be posted on Canvas after the major assessment grade has been put into Infinite Campus.
    2. E-mail Mr. Chatman (chatmja@boe.richmond.k12.ga.us )when the assignment is complete and what days you are available to complete the re-assessment after school. Must follow e-mail etiquette. Remember, I only see your e-mails between 7am-3pm Monday-Friday.
