My name is Dr. Coddy Carter, and it is a joy to be here at the illustrious Thomas Walter Josey High School. As a history teacher here, I am honored to learn the school's deep history and share it in my classes. My classes will be challenging in the sense that students will be encouraged to critically engage with their thoughts in regard to the world around them and history. The courses I teach include American Government/Civics, AP Human Geography, and World Geography. My goal with these courses is to help students seek that the things they experience in their daily lives have relevance in the classroom.

I am a proud native of Monticello, Georgia, where I resided in the historic Washington Park neighborhood. Life has taken me beyond Monticello, but home is where my heart is. Monticello is place where I breathed the same air and stood on the same soil as my ancestor. Though life has taken me beyond those city limits, I will never forget my roots. Augusta has welcomed me with open arms, though. My wife is a fifth-generation Augustan whose grandmother graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School and both parents graduated from T.W. Josey High School. That means that her roots and my children's roots are deeply planted here at Josey. Therefore, it is a duty and an honor to celebrate that legacy here in the classroom.
