    INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!!! I am Robert Gidron and I will be the Band/Chorus director for Murphey Middle School. I am also the Assistant band director at T. W Josey. This is my fifth year at Murphey, and I am excited and passionate about success this year.  I am a graduate of Jackson State University, and also Purdue University. I hold a Bachelor's in Music Education and a Master of Science in Education. I recently obtained a Specialist degree from Augusta State University. I teach and play multiple instruments in many different genres of music. Last school year, I was honored to receive New Teacher of the Year from the fine arts department. My previous year, I took the band to the Large Group Performance Ensemble. This was an esteemed honor for the Band Program and the school in my first year as director. I received the 2024-2025 Middle School Band Director of the year award. I received it this previous school year from the Fine Arts Department. This was a great honor, and the MMS concert band received excellent ratings at the GMEA (Georgia Music Education Association) state festival that year. When I am not playing music, I enjoy vacations at the beach, reading and studying real estate, and family church time on Sundays. Currently, I am a musician at church, playing the piano. Again, I am excited to serve as your Band director for Murphey Middle School this year!!!

    * I also want to announce with parents' consent that eighth graders can experience marching in the Sonic Boom of the South at Josey! Eighth graders have a chance to experience the marching band. Middle school band members will play at least one Murphey football game and a basketball game this season. This includes all grades. Please feel free to email me with any questions and concerns. This year, to help conserve the environment and be paper-friendly, I will upload most updates and syllabus to the Canvas platform.
