    Distance Learning Day Plan

    During Distance Learning, all students are expected to continue learning and demonstrating mastery of their content. Each teacher will provide content and course specific assignments for their students to complete. In addition, the district has prepared supplemental lessons for all students. The RCSS Distance Learning plan and resources can be found on our website at rcboe.org/distancelearning.


    Expectations for Teachers

    • Complete the “Just-in-Time: Digital Learning” course. Once you complete the course, proudly share your badge in your email signature line.
    • Teachers are expected to communicate asynchronously. What does that mean? That means your students will be learning at different times. In other words, communication is not live. It offers both teachers and students more flexibility to work at a time convenient for them. Asynchronous learning also allows students to work at their own pace. Teachers are NOT expected to conduct Skype or other video conferencing live instruction.
    • Teachers are expected to supplement the district’s Distance Learning lessons with their own content and course-specific materials. These materials should be available daily. The teacher should create a schedule for posting assignments, communicating, and grading work.
    • Teachers are expected to be available for communication during the regular school hours. Share your preferred contact method (email, text, Remind, Dojo, etc.).
    • Teachers are expected to differentiate their content and course specific materials for students’ diverse digital needs. Survey your students to determine their levels of online and technology access. If needed, consider a project-based assignment or non-digital assignments. Provide related rubrics and assignment expectations prior to your Distance Learning Day.
    • Teachers are expected to establish their expectations for student learning. Communicate your expectations to your students. Let them know exactly how their work will be assessed and graded.
